Wow. I remember when the left went berserk after Reagan gave ONE speech in Japan for a million dollar fee after leaving office. And the sputtering apoplexy over Bush the Elder serving on a couple of corporate boards for much less was rather frightening.
$80 million between the book and "speaking fees" seems a bit high to me, but he is a former President and he did decide to cash in. Having made that decision, though, he really ought not involve himself in current political issues or elections. It diminishes him and the office.
