Barack Obama continues to collect endorsements from his Senate colleagues (who serve with both him and Hillary Clinton, of course). By my count, this makes the fourth he has won since losing the New Hampshire primary, which makes them more impressive - although he still trails Clinton in the total number of endorsements from that body. This time it's the Chairman of the Judiciary Committee, Vermont Sen. Patrick Leahy. Via the Associated Press:
Leahy's endorsement gives Obama eight among Democratic senators, compared to 11 for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton. Many Democratic senators have held off on public endorsements in the presidential race, in part because there were at one time four Democratic senators and a former one in the race.More endorsements could follow now that Sens. Christopher Dodd and Joseph Biden have dropped out, though the Democratic field remains crowded with senators: Obama, Clinton and former Sen. John Edwards are still in the race.
Read the rest at the link above. Given Leahy's history of leaking classified information for political gain, I wonder how much this support will do for Obama. Still, national security hasn't been of major importance in Democratic primaries in recent decades. If Leahy can only bring in the blithering idiot vote, it could be enough to put Obama over the top.
