Welll Jim, 600,000 Northern soldiers were killed or wounded. The population of the country was around 60 million. Today it is around 300,000,000. While many of the deaths could have been averted my modern science, the sheer scale makes you wonder what Lincoln's approval rating would have been, could it have been measured.
