I regret that the nagging requirements of real life have kept me from posting the last few days, and also from viewing the Democratic candidates' debate. I did read the live-blogging at The Hillary Spot and the Power Line Forum, and read the transcript, but that's no substitute for watching the actual performances.
Judging by the transcript and others' analyses, no one delivered a knock-out punch or made a major gaffe. This of course suits Hillary Clinton well, as neither of her top challengers (Obama and Edwards) was able either to hurt her or establish superior claims to be her main opponent as opposed to the other. Keeping both of them in the race, a safe distance behind, is her dream strategy: neither emerges as viable against her, but both are raising enough money and employing enough consultants and workers to keep anyone else from making a major move.
Richardson continues to disappoint by failing to live up to his resume. It seems he deserted his moderate history when he saw the others fighting to move left on the war, and joined them. This is not a natural position for him, and he doesn't play it well. Biden stood out as the most practical and informed.
Edwards and Obama want to investigate the oil companies over gas prices? HO-HUM! Been there, done that after gas price spikes in the '70s and '80s and '90s: always the same result: it's the market, stupid.
Speaking of stupid, Dodd's idea to "cap" oil prices at $40 per barrel is the dumbest idea since Kucinich's "Department of Peace." Wow, we won't be able to buy ANY oil at that price when the market is bringing roughly $60, would we? True, demand would fall as our economy collapses, and the price will come down on its own . . . What a complete idiot! Time to pack your bags, Senator.
In a debate where nothing major happens, the frontrunner always wins. That's Hillary, and she is looking better all the time in this race.

Listen to idiots like Dodd and you'll be setting in mile long gas lines, on Odd/Even numbered days, to get (limit) 10 gallons of gas at $10 + per gallon. Democrats never learn, just watch them kissing Dimmy Carters a** every day. Still laughing at the foolish democrats, what kills you will have little effect on me. Retired, no money, no job to go to, don't burn much gas. Bring it on.
