Senator Hillary Clinton broke all the quarterly fundraising records last week - with just one week's worth of events! Michael McAuliff of NYDailyNews.com reports:
In a political season already marked by phenomenal fund-raising, Hillary Clinton has hit a new high, raking in more than $10 million in just one week.
The old record for raising ridiculous amounts of money - for the entire first three months of a campaign - was set in 2004 by John Edwards, when he led all Democrats with $7.4 million.Clinton topped that with just three events that raised $8.5 million by themselves, capped by a star-spangled soiree on Saturday for 660 at the home of Beverly Hills billionaire Ron Burkle.

The top campaigns all have been downplaying their first-quarter haul to get better press when the fund-raising period ends Saturday. But backers of Sen.Barack Obama (D-Ill.) and former Sen. John Edwards (D-N.C.) still nearly choked when told of Clinton's $10 million week.

Hillary has fired a very loud shot across the bow of any campaign which thinks itself able to compete with her. She is just getting warmed up now. Two of the bigger events were headlined by Bill Clinton, who is the Democratic Party's #1 fundraising draw (Hillary being #2). She doesn't need him all the time, but when he shows up, he delivers.
At this rate, John Edwards can expect to have plenty of time with his wife, Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. can plan on writing his third autobiography, and Bill Richardson can look forward to many a lazy New Mexico summer afternoon daydreaming about baseball.

Every year the yankees out spend every other baseball team in the majors by a huge amount yet haven't won the world series in years.....
Point is, money isn't the end all. Ultimately Hillary has a huge hill to climb to win over moderate democrats who are sick of party politics. She surfs for the middle ground and comes across as having no conviction. Come debate time, it will hurt her.
