McCain: Close Gitmo, fight "climate change"

John McCain is reaching out across the seas to Europe, and saying things they like to hear. Someone should tell the Senator about this whole "internet" thing, and that it means we ALL can read the Sunday Telegraph:

"I would immediately close Guantanamo Bay, move all the prisoners to Fort Leavenworth (an army base in Kansas) and truly expedite the judicial proceedings in their cases," he said. "I would reaffirm my commitment to address the issue of climate change and greenhouse gas emissions. I know how important this is in Europe in particular."

John Weaver, Sen McCain's chief strategist, confirmed his plans for a markedly more conciliatory foreign policy. "The next president will have to work extra hard to unite our friends and divide our foes. Sadly the opposite has occurred in recent years," he said, as Sen McCain addressed a crowded hall in the farming community of Cedar Falls.

"John believes that you can accomplish a lot more in this world by sticking to your principles, while adopting a much more humble tone with your partners."

Read it all at the link above. Which nomination is McCain seeking again?

Or hasn't he decided yet?

McCain had better remember ... (Below threshold)
Scrapiron:

McCain had better remember that the American People still have rights even with the drive in congress to remove them.
If they bring the terrorists to the United States and any one of them excapes or is released, and kills an American citizen then the American Citizens should enforce their right to remove those responsible from the government, with whatever force is required to get the job done. The dhimmi's have tried to remove that right but have not accomplished the dirty deed, the RINO had better read the constitution. You can only push so far and the push back will be violent.

The show in D.C. on Saturday should prove that. The slime on the left have been getting away with their anti-American BS for years. Saturday the tide turned and they had to make use of their yellow signs to cover their yellow a**. The yellow spines will go to WR and slander the wounded, but they wouldn't stand up and face the Vet's that could and would fight back with as much violence and you want.

We, the people are tired of the lies and traitorous acts by elected representatives. Do your job or get the he** out of the way of someone who will. RINO McCain is toast and has about the same chance of becoming president as a snowball has of surviving an hour in hell.

If I didn't know it was John McCain speaking I would swear I was listening to John (frenchy) Kerry. McCain has just removed himself from the primaries, if he intends to run he better go on a be an independent.

I thought McCain Inc. was trying to make Rudy look liberal. Guess the candidate didn;t get the memo

I'm more worried about terrorists in 2007 than whether Rudy did a drag spoof in 1987

Fascinating, I figure McCain's the only hope you have of winning in '08 short of rigging a third election in a row. Go ahead take Rudy who has no political capital outside of the northeast. :)

Rudy has no political capital outside of the Northeast? Well whew! I guess it's a relief for the blue team that it has so much political capital everywhere else, eh? ;-)

While I don't agree with Anonymous' statement about Rudi's lack of political capital, I do agree that McCain is the Rep's best chance in 08.

Romney could have contended if he was the established leader early, but he's going to have a real name recognition problem if he's not the front runner before next February.

Rudi can compete in the center, but if he wins the nomination it will guarantee a social conservative independent candidate. That 3rd candidate is going to pull at least 10%, even if it's just good ol' Pat.

It's far too late for anybody else. Like it or not (and I don't) we're already halfway through this race.

If you guys are really dead-set against McCain, then you are not winning in 08. And before you say that it would be worth it. Think about what that means. The house is going to look pretty much as it does now (maybe +5 rep), the senate is almost certain to be more blue, we've got two very likely left-leaning supreme court retirements in the next term.
