Perhaps looking for a way to pay off the judgment against him from his Tawana Brawley fraud, or even the reams of unpaid hotel and limo bills from his 2004 Presidential campaign, notorious huckster and con-man Al Sharpton is threatening to sue the New York City Police over their street stops, according to WCBSTV.com:
The Rev. Al Sharpton threatened Sunday to file a class-action lawsuit over a reported fivefold increase over the number of people stopped and frisked by city police.
The New York Times reported Saturday that the New York Police Department stopped more than 500,000 people last year, more than five times as many as they did just four years before.According to the report, 55 percent of the people stopped last year were black and more than 30 percent were Hispanic.
"We're not half the population in the city," Sharpton said during a sermon at St. Luke Baptist Church in Harlem. "How do we get stopped and frisked half, other than there is a measure of profiling based on race that permeates in the NYPD?"
Unfortunately for "Reverend" Al, it seems that while 55% of the "suspicious street stops" last year were of blacks, some 68% of the crime suspects described by witnesses and victims were black. Maybe his lawsuit will ask the NYPD to step up their stops of black suspects to ensure "proportionalism," eh?
Nah. He's just hoping they will throw some money at him to make it all go away, and basking in the free publicity in the meantime.
Hat-tip to Moonbattery for pointing to this story.

If it is a violation of the 4th Amendment of the Constitution (I believe it likely is) then it has to stop, regardless of the make up of who is getting stopped. The constitution is color blind.
Even if 68% of crime suspects are black, does that mean the other 32% deserve to be stopped and accused of being criminals?

Hopefully he will find all kinds of money, because when the 3 Duke lacrosse players sue him, Jessie Jackson, Duke University, the DA, the city, and all 80 or so teachers of the BS they said about them, he will be paying them all of it.

If memory serves, "stop and frisk" on public streets has been approved by the courts for decades for anyone matching descriptions of suspects or acting suspiciously.
I doubt anyone would waste the money on legal fees suing Sharpton. Since the Brawley civil verdict, he has had virtually no personal income. His organization pays all his expenses, and he retains no property subject to attachment.
