Elway is reportedly interested, and the GOP should court him seriously. Bill Owens' stock is substantially downgraded after his last years in office.
It would be tough for Colorado voters to vote AGAINST John Elway.
The recent history of Colorado Senate seats shows Allard to be in the mainstream: Senators from that state have tended to self-limit their service for one reason or another. His announcement was anticlimactic, as political observers had noted some time ago that he had not been raising money in the usual quantities lately.
