Santorum was all but writte... (Below threshold)1. Posted by Jim Addison | October 24, 2006 2:20 AM | Score: 0 (0 votes cast)
Santorum was all but written off in early October when he first ran for the Senate, but is a furious closer. He will need every bit of that experience and drive to pull this one out.
Still, it can be done. Casey's support is very soft - a necessary by-product of his campaign strategy of not addressing issues or voters except in the most general terms and the most highly-controlled circumstances. It's the only strategy which could give him a chance, as evidenced by his laughable performance when he did show up to debate. He certainly won more support at the ones he ducked. The guy is an empty suit.
Santorum was closing well until the Foley bomb hit, and the passage of time gives voters a chance to remember it had nothing to do with Santorum - it wasn't even on his side of the Capitol. He should be able to get back to where he was, and continue closing the poll gap. From there, it will turn on our GOTV effort, which is second to none.
