I've always laughed at the hysteria which always seems to flare up when the possibility of Hilarity! running for President is mentioned.
There's only one thing between Hilarity! and the White House: an election - one she cannot win.
While she is the Democrats' #2 fundraiser (after Bill), she is also a huge fundraiser for the GOP and conservative groups. They've found merely putting her name prominently on direct mail solicitations increases response rate by a third and the total donations by nearly as much. No matter how much she may excite some Democrats, she gets conservatives even more on edge.
Sure, Hilarity! would win several of the "dark blue" states by wider margins than either Gore or Kerry. But there isn't a single "red state" she would win over, and she could lose the "light blue" states along the Great Lakes.
I am certain she will run, and she might even win the Democratic nomination. But in 2009, she will still be in the Senate, not the White House.

I find it almost impossible to believe that the country will vote for a return of the Clintons to the White House. First, what do you do with Bill?? Very awkward. Second, and most important, although I love President Bush, I don't want to see another Bush after we already had two. The pattern has been Bush, Clinton, Clinton, Bush, Bush. There is an entire country out there. Why always the same 2 families?? I don't think the country will want another Clinton.
