Of the 12 Democrats who vot... (Below threshold)1. Posted by Jim Addison | September 28, 2006 11:28 PM | Score: 0 (0 votes cast)
Of the 12 Democrats who voted FOR the bill, six are up for reelection: Lieberman, Carper, Menendez, Stabenow, and both Nelsons. Five more - Landrieu, Rockefeller, Pryor, Johnson, and Salazar - are from "red" states. The 12th is Lautenberg, who may have been trying to give Menendez some covering fire in his reelection bid.
In the House, among 30-odd Democrats for the bill were Harold Ford, Jr., and Sherrod Brown, both involved in Senate challenges in "light red" states.
Can I get a show of hands of those who believe Ford and Brown would have been for this legislation if they were already in the Senate, or weren't running for it?
I see not many of you are fooled . . . let's hope the voters in Ohio and Tennessee are as perceptive as the Wizbang! Politics readers.
A special prize should go to Olympia Snowe, who made a lot of noise on this issue, but couldn't make the vote for some reason. I'm trying to design a trophy for her, showing a tiny head with a great big mouth.

Get the trophy done and in the mail. There is not a more deserving person in the country.
The democrats will never learn. They start slandering Sen Allen. More dirt than you can haul in a triple axle dump truck pops up on Webb. Another Va. democrat bites the dirt because of a previous conviction of assulting a 'woman'. Don't you ladies feel safe with all of the criminal democratic anti-everythings running to protect you.
Read tonight that the moonbat running against Blackwell in Ohio wants more abortions in the state. Guess welfare is costing too much. Killing 30-50 million babies in the past few years hasn't quenched their thirst for the blood of babies, just as the blood of thousands of american soldiers in Vietnam and 3-5 million civilians in Southeast Asia hasn't quenched their thirst for the blood of American soldiers and civilians. No wonder the university study found that democrats don't sleep well and have a lot of nightmares. They should be drowning in blood by now.

On the flip side, is this legislation really good for our country? Even though the White House supports it, I for one do not blindly follow what they have to say. As a traditional conservative on constitutional issues, I question whether we should be encouraging the evolution of an executive branch that can operate without the oversight of the judicial and legislative branches. Wiretapping without a warrant is just one of a number of such initiatives that the current administration has been pursuing. This doesn't look like the kind of conservatism that I have known about all my life.
