2006 Illinois Governor Race

Illinois should be a prime pick-up opportunity for the Republicans, but they may have picked the wrong candidate. A new Survey USA poll reports that Judy Baar Topinka trails the extremely unpopular Democratic incumbent Rod Blagojevich 45% to 39%. The main reason is that Topinka is not doing as well as she should be in surburban Cook County and the Collar Counties.

A self-funder, like Dick DeVos would have run away with this race. Topinka can still win, but, like most Republicans, she is not being aggressive enough.
