Actually, DeVos is doing better than the EPIC-MRA poll released last week showing Granholm leading 49-42 . . . but even the previous August polls showing him tied are not inconsistent with this. Margins of error must be figured both ways, so a ±3% MOE means DeVos could be trailing by 11% - OR leading by 1%.
More telling, to me at this point in the race, is Granholm's 45% disapproval rating. The state has been churning down the tubes fast on her watch. It was one of only three states with a net job loss over the last four years - and Louisiana and Mississippi lost theirs to Katrina.
Also, going through the other results, you see Michigan is in an anti-Republican mood, BUT this hasn't seemed to help Granholm. An incumbent with these numbers and a bad economy cannot be very confident going into the election.

Devos has a poor TV presence whereas Granholm has a passable (albeit empty) one. So Devos is bound to slip.
Sorry the voting public in general is shallow.

jpm100, I agree with your assessment of DeVos. It's a shame that he had so much money no one was willing to rung against him.
Still, despite the polls, I don't thing Grandholm has a chance. I don't know where her support is coming from. In my area very, very few people who are typical socialist voters are supporting her.
It must be the democrats in Wayne County who are afraid that if DeVos is elected they might have to get jobs and stop living off the government.
