This is really interesting. I think you need to also look at the 7th CD in Colorado. This is only the 3rd election in this new district. It was apportioned by the Colorado Supreme Court and is pretty much 50/50 with a slight tilt to the right. Republicans have narrowly won the seat in the last 2 elections. Now Bob Beauprez is giving up the seat to run for governor. The most recent poll shows Republican Rick O'Donnell at 45% and Democrat Ed Perlmutter at 45%.
Like the NM 1st CD, if this is the best that the Dems can do in an election that is supposed to be a big one for them, then I think the GOP will hold the House as well.
Here's what I posted about it a couple of days ago. Hang Right Politics

Yes, the poll showing Madrid trailing slightly is probably a "homer." Her handling of scandal prosecutions has become an issue, and Wilson has to have some residual good will as the incumbent if she's been working constituent service properly. This is one of the analysts' "toss-up" seats that never made any sense to me.
As Kate Nash of the Alberqueque Trib reports, the candidates will debate on September 17th in an open forum at the state's oldest Reform Jewish Congregation.
COgirl ~ We last reported on CO-7 last week, so you're right - it's time for an update. I'll see what I can find . . .
