Alaska Governor - Palin leads Republican Primary

With nearly half the precincts in, Sarah Palin leads the GOP primary field for Governor with 50.36% of the vote. John Binkley is running second with 30.63%, and incumbent Governor Frank Murkowski trails with only 18.56%.

Palin's lead is enough to call the race for her. It would take a complete reversal of trends for her NOT to win it. The latest returns are available here.

UPDATE 2:25 a.m.: As expected, former Governor Tony Knowles is winning the Democratic primary for his old job, with over 67% of the vote. Polls showed him beating Murkowski, but losing to Palin.

UPDATE 3:30 a.m. EDT
: If there was any doubt, it's over. With 67% of precincts reporting, Sarah Palin maintains a slight majority of votes with 51% in the three-way field, with incumbent Governor Murkowski a poor third. Knowles easily wins the Democratic nomination.
