Last week we reported on the flap over remarks made by Republican Sen. George Allen of Virginia, and the fact that Sen. John McCain was campaiging for him.
Now Allen is getting support from the biggest gun in the Republican arsenal, President Bush himself. Nedra Pickler of the Associated Press has the story:
President Bush has no qualms about raising campaign cash for Sen. George Allen despite the Republican's widely assailed quip in which he called a rival campaign worker of Indian descent a "macaca."
In recent days, Allen has faced a barrage of criticism since he used the word to describe Virginia native S.R. Sidarth, a 20-year-old University of Virginia senior who was video taping a campaign event for Allen's Democratic challenger Jim Webb.Allen exhorted the crowd: "Let's give a welcome to Macaca here. Welcome to America and the real world of Virginia."
Read the rest of the report at link above.
Naturally, it is forgotten that these remarks followed Allen's chiding of Democratic opponent Jim Webb for sending the videographer to parts of Virginia Webb has never seen. Only the quip itself is reported, absent any context. Such is the stuff of political propaganda - er, I mean, "legend-making."
I think.

I wonder how much of Virginia Allen (who is supposed to represent them) saw while he was running around the country building support for his Presidential run.
Don't recent polls show this race tightening up a great deal as well?

Why yes, they do - as a direct reaction to the media blanketing this flap. Too bad for them, they should have held it until late October to spring, then they might have had a chance.
I don't suppose you would care for a nominal wager on this race, just to make it interesting? Remember to include a permission slip from your Mommy, mmmkay?

Anyway, thanks for once again not addressing the issue I bring up and instead resorting to insults and tough talk. Impressive.
Remember your talking points from Mr. Mehlman, and party before country, mmmkay?

Does your Mommy know you are still up on the computer, punky?
George Allen knows the state well, having travelled it extensively in the course of winning statewide campaigns for Governor and Senator already.
Your Democratic nominee has spent more time in Hollywood than in southwestern Virginia. Or the Valley. Or Tidewater. Or the Eastern Shore. Or Central Virginia, for that matter. The little wimp hugs the Beltway like a security blanket.
You should perhaps heed Mark Twain's sage advice: "Better to keep your mouth shut, and be thought a fool, than to open it and remove all doubt."

Mr. Addison,
Did you know that Jim Webb was born in South West Virginia and has family in S W Virginia. While Jim was spending his youth in S W Virginia, George "Felix" Allen was waving Confederate flags in in S W California.

Hey, growing up somewhere or campaigning there several years ago does not mean you can ignore your voters in an election year traveling the country drumming up support for your presidential bid. That was my only point.
And my mother is dead, but thanks again for the condescension.

From Webb's campaign bio: "Jim grew up on the move, attending more than a dozen different schools across the U.S. and in England. He graduated from high school in Bellevue, Nebraska."

Kimyl, you've been caught in so many lies already, it has ceased to be amusing. You're simply a pathetic excuse for a human being, and a waste of everyone's time - including any serious-minded liberals looking to participate, if there are any such things.
