We previously reported that the race for this open district is one of the most-watched in the nation, as Republican Rick O'Donnell and Democrat Ed Perlmutter fight for the seat vacated by Republican nominee for Governor, Rep. Bob Beauprez. This naturally brings national attention and big-name "help" to both campaigns.
The Rocky Mountain News reports:
House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi will take the stump in Denver tomorrow afternoon to "discuss Democrats' commitment to fighting for a New Direction for America."
Joining her will be Representatives Diana DeGette, D-Denver, and Mark Udall, D-Eldorado Springs, as well as Colorado Senate president Joan Fitz-Gerald, D-Golden and state house speaker Andrew Romanoff, D-Denver. Colorado's 7th congressional Democratic candidate Ed Perlmutter will also attend.

It seems to me if this is such a tight "bellwether" race, maybe it isn't the best idea for a Democratic candidate to be seen with the flaming San Francisco liberal Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi. One strategy popping up in Republican House campaigns across the country is bringing the specter of "Speaker Pelosi" before the voters. Several of the Democrats it's being used against claim it's a "scare tactic," and the thought is pretty frightening, you have to admit . . .
Perlmutter is taking a risk being seen with Pelosi. O'Donnell hopes they take LOTS of pictures with hugs and smiles all around.
