Great column Lorie. When the Democrats decide to get serious on offering an alternative solution to our national security issues, the war in Iraq and the overarching war on terror, then we can begin to worry. As it is, they are so busy whinging about the horrors of Republicans they seem to have forgotten that American voters don't elect complainers, we elect fixers.
After seeing the USNews report that GOP voters are very motivated for this November's elections, I am feeling even better about the GOP' outlook this fall.

I suspect you are right. I think the pundits have a herd mentality, and once a couple of them get started in one direction, the rest get moving along the same way very quickly. Before long, it's a stampede.
For example, I was having trouble figuring out Larry Sabato's predictions, when I saw he considers the Virginia Senate seat up for grabs. This guy lives in the state. He should know Jim Webb isn't going anywhere - he's a much better candidate on paper than in person. Allen's already won statewide as Governor and Senator.
If anyone wants to take Webb on a straight-up bet, contact me, mmmkay?
That alone tells me Larry has lost it. His predictions are utterly worthless.
I also notice that in Charlie Cook's "50 most competitive House races," not a single Democratic seat among them, not even an open one, is listed as a "toss up." The column is empty. So maybe Charlie and Larry have been smoking the same stuff.
BTW, don't get us started on Andy Griffith trivia . . . What are "the three things that keep the peace in Mayberry" . . .?
;-)
