The Democrats who control of the Governor's seat and both houses of the legislature are doing an excellent job of showing how a Democrat dominated government can quickly come to a standstill when an authoritarian socialist Governor and a special interest legislature have differences. What is at stake is the Governor's bloated budget, his unwillingness to cut spending, and his relentless demand to increase the state sales tax. To get his budget, Corzine and his legislative cronies from North Jersey have allegedly launched a plot to unseat the Speaker of the Assembly who is from South Jersey. The Speaker has been opposing the tax increase and wants budget cuts.
The irony here is the Corzine camp now is rumored to be cajoling the Republicans to unseat the Speaker. Here is the opportunity for the NJ Republican legislators, including Tom Kean, Jr., to not fall into this political pit of quicksand. If the Republicans in New Jersey become part of this debacle, for shame on them. If they do stand with Corzine, then why should there be a Republican Party in NJ. They might as well concede their political right of opposition and cease to exist.

This would make as much sense as jumping aboard the Titanic in a rescue mission because the captain asked for help, knwoing full well you'd be left aboard by the captain when it sank, and he'd be in the lifeboat spinning that you were steering the ship from the git go .

Agreed.
It's a Devil's Bargain. NJ Republicans should run, not walk, away from it. This is pretty much 100% a Democrat mess. Let them deal with it, without political cover.
