Good news. At least with Weld out of the way, even if Spitzer can't win, maybe the GOP can salvage the NY legislature.
Weld screwed the pooch by not being man enough to beat John Kerry for Senate a few years back. He let Kerry get away with lying his tail off in their debates, and never called him on it.

Now Faso and the GOP can focus on Eliot Spitzer's flip-flopping on the tax increase issue. First he wouldn't deny tax increases, now he's adamantly opposed....
My dearest wish is that Pataki keep his mouth shut and his head down in the next few months. Spitzer will have his hands full dealing with Faso on the right and Suozzi in the middle. In the end, it might not amount to much, but it will force him to repeat his "no tax increases" mantra again and again and New Yorkers will be paying attention.
